Preventive Care Schedule for Puppies

All babies need preventive care, and your puppy is no different. Puppies should be examined and vaccinated at regular intervals starting at six to eight weeks of age. Puppies aren’t fully protected from common diseases until they’re about 4 months old. Our preventive care schedule will help your puppy start out right, and our low-stress approach to care will help make sure he or she enjoys coming to the veterinarian!

6-8 Weeks

9-11 Weeks

  • Low-stress, comprehensive physical exam

  • DHPP vaccine
  • Bordetella vaccine

12-14 Weeks

  • Low-stress, comprehensive physical exam
  • DHPP vaccine
  • Bordetella vaccine
  • Leptospirosis vaccine (if needed)
  • First dose of monthly heartworm preventive

15-17 Weeks

  • DHPP vaccine

  • Rabies vaccine
  • Leptospirosis vaccine (if needed)
  • Six-month supply of heartworm preventive
