Emergencies during regular business hours*
Emergencies arriving during regular business hours are triaged to determine urgency of need. Critically ill patients are seen on a priority basis and may occasionally interrupt scheduled appointments. Stable but urgent patients are made comfortable and worked into our schedule. Give us a call in advance if you can. We’ll let you know if a doctor is available on-site and be ready to triage your pet when you arrive.
How do you know if your pet’s problem is an emergency? You know your pet best. If you’re worried, give us a call. We’ll help you decide how quickly your pet should be examined. Symptoms of potentially life-threatening pet emergencies include:
- Sudden collapse or weakness
- Trauma or severe bleeding
- Seizures, convulsions or fits
- Sudden facial swelling or hives
- Choking or difficulty breathing
- Abnormal gum color: pale, white, gray, purple
- Straining or unable to urinate, especially in a male pet
- Sudden abdominal pain or swelling
- Severe or frequent vomiting or diarrhea
- Repeated dry heaves
- Snakebite

Doctors are available 24 hours a day and no appointment is needed. When we return to the office, the ER team will help you and your pet make a smooth transition back into our care.
